The National Park Service has released an Environmental Assessment (EA) evaluating alternatives for stabilizing approximately 5 miles of riverbank at Moccasin Bend in Chattanooga. Bank stabilization is necessary to preserve and protect archeological resources that are being lost due to erosion and theft in the Moccasin Bend National Archeological District, a unit of Chickamauga and Chattanooga. The public is invited to comment on the project during a 30 day period that began May 4, 2009.
