Runners, walkers and volunteers are invited to the Chickamauga Battlefield unit of the Park this Saturday morning, April 14th, for the 39th running of The Chickamauga Chase road race. The Chase is the oldest and largest event sponsored annually by the Chattanooga Track Club. It includes a 15k main event, 5k race and Scenic Walk for individuals and families (strollers and baby joggers welcome for the Walk!). Proceeds benefit Friends of the Park, and IcyHot is the presenting sponsor.

Registration starts at 7:00 am. All events start at 8:30 am at The Chase's traditional staging area near Wilder Tower. All participants and volunteers will receive a 100 percent cotton Chase T-shirt. Post-race refreshments will include free muffins, bagels, fresh fruit, coffee, POWERADE and Coca-Cola.

The National Park Service welcomes volunteers, runners and friends to tour the battlefield after The Chase. For details, simply stop by the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor's Center or call the Park Service at 423-752-5213.

Those interested in volunteering to help with registration, water stops and finish line documentation may contact race director George Skonberg: Call 423-267-1813 or 800-669-2723, or email George at george.skonberg@ubs.com

Supporting sponsors of The Chase include Blue Cross Blue Shield of TN, the Chattanooga Track Club, McCain Design, Snicker's Marathon Energy Bar, Sophie's, Great Harvest Bread Company, the Sports Barn, Southern Coffee Service, POWERADE, Greenlife Grocery, Cox Sports Photos, Blood Assurance of Chattanooga, Chattanooga Online and Technology Projects.
