Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to attend a special guided tour at Chickamauga Battlefield on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2010. Park Ranger Anton Heinlein will conduct a 90-minute tour featuring fallen leaders of the 1863 Battle of Chickamauga. Participants should meet at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center at 1:00 p.m.

The Battle of Chickamauga, September 19 and 20, 1863, was the bloodiest two-day battle of the American Civil War. Casualties included eight brigade commanders (four Union and four Confederate). The spots where these commanders fell are marked today with monumental mortuary pyramids. Participants in this FREE tour will learn the stories of Chickamauga's fallen leaders and visit eight of the many unique resources found at Chickamauga Battlefield.

For more information on this program, and on other upcoming summer programs, contact the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center at (706) 866-9241 or visit the Park’s website at www.nps.gov/chch.
