Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites children to a FREE Civil War Summer Day Camp at Chickamauga Battlefield on July 19, 20 and 21 from 9 AM until 1 PM. (Lunch is not included in registration.) The camp is designed for grades 4-8 and registration is limited to 50. Deadline for signing up is July 2.
Campers will become living historians for the week. Each will assume the persona of a soldier who fought in the Battle of Chickamauga with the 1st Georgia Infantry (originally organized in Catoosa & Walker Counties). They will learn about soldiers' lives during the war, take part in activities on the battlefield, and end their camp experience by adopting and helping Park Rangers clean the 1st Georgia's monument at Chickamauga.
