The National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, is proud to award Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park a 2012 Impact Grant to support the launch of “Learning in Action: Bringing Students to the Park,” a project that will provide funding assistance to Title 1 schools in order to bring students to the Park and participate in curriculum-based education programs. The grant is part of the National Park Foundation’s Impact Grant program which gives parks the critical financial support needed to transform innovative, yet underfunded ideas into successful in-park programs and initiatives read more (314 words)

Join NPS Park rangers and volunteers to explore the events of November 1863 when the Union and Confederates armies struggled for control of Chattanooga as the gateway to the lower South.
Most events take place at the Chattanooga units of the Park: Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Orchard Knob and Moccasin Bend. Additional events explore downtown Chattanooga and Ringgold, GA. All are open to the public free of charge. Please note that, in case of inclement weather, alternative programming will be offered at the Park Visitor Center. Saturday, September 26 is National Public Lands Day. The celebration coincides with the debut of a 30-minute film that showcases America's oldest historic national park: Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. The film, From Lookout Mountain to the Valley Below: Our National Park, will be screened in the orientation theater at Chickamauga Battlefield from 9 AM until 4 PM. Admission is free.

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to attend upcoming special interpretive programs presented in commemoration of the 145th Anniversary of the Battles for Chattanooga. A variety of educational programs will be offered on Saturday and Sunday, November 22 and 23, 2008.
The Battles for Chattanooga, November 23-25, 1863, marked the end of a five month campaign for control of this key rail center, the “Gateway to the Deep South.” The following year, General William T. Sherman used Chattanooga as a base of supply and communication during his Georgia campaigns.

The public is invited to attend a series of interpretive and living history programs presented at Lookout Mountain Battlefield on Saturday, November 1, 2008.
